Traveling in France

France is one of the most sought-after travel destinations in the world, and I’ve been lucky enough to visit twice. The first time I came to France, I was in my early 20s and an active-duty Marine. U.S.-French relations were at an all-time low, and while most people were still nice, a few certainly didn’t welcome our presence. When I returned more than 10 years later, it was a completely different experience, and it was amazing to see how much attitudes and sentiments could change. I’ve visited Marseille once and Paris twice. On my next trip to France, I’d love to focus more on the country’s World War II history and perhaps climb Mont Blanc.

Paris

Not many people need an explanation for why they should visit Paris. The city has long been considered one of the most romantic destinations in the world, and with incredible wine and cuisine surrounded by one of Europe’s great cities, it’s easy to understand why. There are endless things to do in Paris, but regardless of what kind of traveler you are, many first-time visits begin with two of its most famous landmarks: the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum.
