Uruguay
Uruguay was one of those countries I just heard of and didn't know what to expect until I got off the airplane. To be honest, because I
didn't know much about Uruguay beforehand, I expected it to be a poor country with a bad infrastructure and to be one of the few tourists
there. Instead when I got there I saw that Montevideo was a very nice city, and it's often used by Argentineans as a weekend getaway.
After spending a few days there I went to Punta Del Este which was even nicer than Montevideo. If you had just showed me some photos
of it before I would have thought guessed they were from Europe or USA. Punta Del Este was definitely my favorite part of Uruguay. It has
very nice beaches for the day time, great casinos, clubs and bars for the night time. I don't like going to clubs, but while I was in Uruguay I
became friends with some Norwegians and got dragged into one of them. Many bars and clubs here don't even open until 3am, so if you're
a party animal then you'll have a great time in this country.

Uruguay - Punta Del Este Beach
Above is someone in Montevideo getting ready to go fishing at sunset. On the right you can see a lighthouse along
the coast. The large white house below belongs to one of the survivors of the soccer team that crashed in the Andes
movies. You're probably more familiar with the story as the movie or book Alive. On the bottom right is the
downtown area of Punta Del Este at night; I couldn't believe how nice it was!
These next two pictures are of the beaches in Uruguay. The right is a cool hand they made in Punta Del Este.
Uruguay - Carnival In Montevideo
The carnival is something that is famous in Brazil but is also done in other countries, just not on the same scale.
These last pictures are of two carnivals I went to. The left picture shows the crowded streets in Montevideo as
people watch the parades. The next two pictures are of some girls who were in the parade in Moldado.
