Singapore has a reputation for being one of the safest and cleanest countries in the world. Singapore is an island nation and very small but also very diverse. The official language of Singapore is English, so before I knew this I was wondering why the street signs said Mountain Rd and other names I'd expect to see in my hometown but not in Asia. To me Singapore seemed like a giant shopping mall. I spent several days walking the downtown area and I would go through one gigantic mall which would lead to another one and another one. It's probably possible to walk from one side of the country to the other through a network of shops and malls. I spent only a few days in Singapore as I was in transit to Sri Lanka and spent most of my time walking aimlessly, but I definitely will return. Below is one of the shopping areas and a neat looking structure I call the beehive building

Singapore - High RiseSingapore - Ghetto
There was cloudy weather in Singapore the day I decided to take pictures. On the left is one of the many high rise buildings in Singapore. Above is a small ghetto. Every country no matter how nice has its worst parts, the only thing with Singapore is that these are still safe areas. Back in these days I foolishly usually stayed in hotels instead of hostels. Hotels can be expensive in Singapore, but this neighborhood cost me $50 a night which was a pretty decent bargin.
Singapore - Downtown
On the left is a picture of Singapore's downtown area. Singapore has 4.3 million people crammed on this small island, making it the second most densely populated country in the world. Like I said, even though Singapore is a very small country it's very diverse, and has some areas in it like Little India, China Town, and an Arabic section as well. This city state is mostly developed, but there are many botanical gardens and nature reserves still left. There is always something to do in here, and you can enjoy exploring it during the day or night without fear of being robbed or assaulted. It's difficult for me to leave such a horrible represention of the country, but hopefully I'll return soon so I can do it some justice.
